Transportation

General Information

The Transportation Department consists of 110 buses ranging from 20-passenger to 97-passenger capacity. We transport approximately 7000 students twice a day, 180 days a year to 66 GGUSD schools and special learning centers utilizing our 81 regular assigned buses and routes. We also provide transportation for many educational field trips and sporting events encompassing the counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino.

Bus Rules

Our motto is "Safety First"

These are the rules that are posted on the inside of all GGUSD buses:

  • OBEY THE DRIVER
  • REMAIN SEATED
  • KEEP THE NOISE DOWN
  • NO SMOKING
  • KEEP ALL PARTS OF BODY INSIDE THE BUS
  • KEEP PERSONAL BELONGINGS OUT OF AISLES
  • DO NOT USE PROFANITY
  • DO NOT PUSH OR SHOVE GETTING ON/OFF BUS
  • GET ON/OFF BUS AT REGULAR STOP
  • CLEATED SHOES NOT PERMITTED ON BUS
  • KNOW EMERGENCY EXIT PROCEDURES

Disciplinary Procedures

Childrens' safety is our #1 priority on all GGUSD buses. When a student breaks the safe bus riding rules, they are subject to progressive disciplinary procedures. The disciplinary procedure consists of oral and written warnings which are reported to and reinforced by the student's school principal.

Bus Driver Information

Our Transportation Department currently employs over 100 California certified school bus drivers. These drivers possess the current licenses to drive any of our fleet of 110 buses.

It takes a love of children and a desire to be a dedicated, safety conscious person to be a good school bus driver. To attain eligibility to become a bus driver, our drivers must go through and pass a rigorous driver training program. Our state instructor conducts annual bus driver classrooms and behind the wheel training with the assistance of two bus driver delegates. The classes usually start in May. The successful candidates attain their licenses by the start of the school year in September.
